Research Proposal
A research proposal is a
detailed plan or blueprint that outlines the intended research project. It is
typically written to seek approval, funding, or support for the research. The
proposal serves as a roadmap, guiding the researcher through the process of
conducting the study and ensuring that the research is well-organized,
feasible, and aligned with academic or professional standards.
“A research proposal
is a document that describes the essential features of a study to be conducted
in the future, as well as the strategy whereby the inquiry may be logically and
successfully accomplished.” Busha & Harter, Research Methods in Librarianship,
p. 343.
“The academic research
proposal is a structured presentation of what you plan to do in research and
how you plan to do it.” Smith, p. 34
Purpose of a Research Proposal:
·
To
convince stakeholders (e.g., supervisors, funding agencies, or institutions) of
the value and feasibility of the research.
·
To
provide a clear plan for conducting the study.
·
To
demonstrate the researcher's preparedness and ability to carry out the project.
